DJI decides which aircraft apps can reach
Drone Horizon talks to DJI aircraft through DJI's official Mobile SDK (version 5), which is built into the Android game. Only aircraft that DJI opens to that SDK can connect. If DJI Fly is the only app that works with your drone and it is not in the list below, it will not connect. You can still fly it in the simulator.
Works
| Aircraft | Remote the phone plugs into |
|---|---|
| DJI Mini 3 | RC-N1 |
| DJI Mini 3 Pro | RC-N1 (not the DJI RC screen remote) |
| DJI Mini 4 Pro | RC-N2 (not the DJI RC 2 screen remote) |
| Mavic 3 Enterprise series (3E / 3T / 3M) | DJI RC Pro Enterprise |
| Matrice 30 / 30T | DJI RC Plus |
| Matrice 300 RTK / 350 RTK | DJI Smart Controller Enterprise / RC Plus |
| Matrice 4 / 4D series, Matrice 400 | DJI RC Plus 2 |
Remotes with a built-in screen, such as the DJI RC and DJI RC 2, cannot install other apps. The Mini models above need the phone-holder remotes (RC-N1 / RC-N2).
Does not work
| Aircraft | Reason |
|---|---|
| DJI FPV, Avata, Avata 2 | DJI does not open its FPV aircraft to apps |
| O3 / O4 Air Unit, DJI Goggles 2 / 3 / N3 | Video and control stay in the DJI goggles |
| DJI Neo, Flip | Not supported by DJI's Mobile SDK |
| DJI Air 2S, Air 3, Air 3S | Not supported by DJI's Mobile SDK |
| Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Classic / Pro, Mavic 2 | Consumer Mavic models are not in the SDK |
| Mini, Mini 2, Mini SE, Mini 2 SE, Mini 4K | Older SDK generation, not supported |
| Phantom 4 and older | Older SDK generation, not supported |
DJI updates its support list. Check DJI's current Mobile SDK supported products before you buy an aircraft for Real Flight.
How to connect
- Update the aircraft and remote firmware in DJI Fly first, then close DJI Fly.
- Plug the phone into the remote's USB cable. If Android asks which app to open, choose Drone Horizon.
- Real Flight → set Connection to DJI aircraft → Connect. The first time needs internet so DJI can register the app.
- Power on the aircraft. Telemetry and the camera feed appear when it links.
What the app can do with a DJI aircraft
- Live telemetry and the DJI camera feed in the console.
- Hold-to-confirm takeoff, land and return to home.
- App control through Virtual Stick, after the safety checklist, with the same speed caps as other aircraft.
The remote's own Pause button and flight-mode switch still take control back. DJI's wired remote is treated as a secure link.
If you use the DJI RC-N as a gamepad feature in the simulator, connecting Real Flight disconnects it first, because both use the same USB connection.
Status
The DJI Mobile SDK is included in the game and links to the app. Registration and flight with a real DJI aircraft have not yet been tested. Treat your first session as a telemetry-only check.
