Realistic Simulator

Built to fly like the real thing

Real per-motor thrust, PID rate control, battery sag and velocity-based crash damage — simulated, not scripted.

Simulated motors, not animated ones

Each of the four aircraft has its own mass, peak thrust per motor and thrust-to-weight ratio. Motor RPM follows first-order spool-up and spool-down responses; thrust follows a configured RPM exponent, voltage and motor health.

A rate controller compares requested and actual body rotation using real PID and feedforward terms, mixing torque across a 4×4 motor allocation matrix built from each aircraft’s actual motor positions.

Consequences That Matter

Damage, battery and failsafe modeled honestly

Impact damage uses incoming velocity history, so a hard crash can’t hide behind continuous collision detection. Battery life defaults to around 12 minutes of hover and is adjustable, with voltage sag as it depletes.

A real failsafe pauses flight on controller disconnect by default, with an optional setting to disarm.

FAQ

Questions about realistic drone simulator

What makes Drone Horizon realistic compared to other flying apps?+

Aircraft are simulated as rigid bodies with real per-motor thrust, torque mixing, PID rate control, drag, battery voltage sag and velocity-based impact damage, running at 120 Hz.

Is there a difference between aircraft, or do they all fly the same?+

Each aircraft has distinct mass, thrust and inertia specifications, so a cinewhoop, freestyle quad, racer and long-range rig all handle differently.

Does the simulator model battery and crash damage realistically?+

Yes. Battery voltage sags under load with critical-charge power derating, and impact damage is based on real velocity history.
